@natereist If I’m going to provide redirection via a plugin to a client I’m more inclined to start with wordpress.org/plugins/safe-r… as a safer, more restrictive, solution.

@natereist I haven’t seen Core do redirects on slug change. My concern with Redirection is the power it has to mess up a site if users don’t understand all it’s capable of doing. And there is a performance hit with storing all of those redirects in the DB that require a lookup.
#WordPress Devs I’d like to hear some veterans thoughts on using a plugin to manage redirects. And even automatically creating redirects when slugs change. I’m pretty much anti-all of that but I’m open to hear well presented cases why it’s OK. #WPDevs

@dimensionmedia Yeah, very true. I know that I need to work on putting in additional hooks into my plugin to better support customization. Of course my plugin is a WooCommerce extension, which takes us back to your comment. 😉
@dimensionmedia Well, at least it’s a custom plugin and not an attempt to directly edit the extension. I love the support questions for help with making edits to my plugin to support functionality that isn’t provided. Asking why it doesn’t work.
