@tessc_a loved chatting with you at the #WCUS2019 help desk on Friday. I love that you are working in the non-profit space! Maybe there will be an opportunity for you to collab with @ForumOne some day! 😀
@FrancescaMarano @mikehale @WordCampUS OK, looking forward to tracking this some more. I wasn’t aware of available training. I’d still like to see us speakers engage in mentoring. It can be super intimidating for a new person to even consider speaking without someone walking through it with them.
@alexsirota @andymci @ChrisWiegman @WCGrandRapids @topher1kenobe @weglot Yeah, we have the same situation. @a2hosting sponsors our meetup and @DVSmichigan hosts us. So cost-wise, like with the pizza and such, it’s free for attendees.
@alexsirota @andymci @ChrisWiegman @WCGrandRapids @topher1kenobe Oh, I know exactly what you mean there, happens to us all the time. @michelleames @WordCampUS Excellent, yes. Next we’ll need to do some recruiting of WordCamp speakers to start sharing there. I’d be happy to start working on something and going off my own experiences the past couple years since I spoke at our local WordCamp.
@alexsirota @andymci @ChrisWiegman @WCGrandRapids @topher1kenobe Yeah, I hear you about talks, our group goes in waves when some talks get more on the technical side. We do still try to encourage open discussions so people can just get help. I applaud you for having 15-20 out to your meetup. Ours can be pretty small some…
#WordCamp & #WPMeetup speakers…what are we doing to pass on what we’ve learned as speakers to new potential speakers? We need to be a part of training, and encouraging, new speakers. We need a speaker mentorship plan. @WordCampUS #WordPress #WCUS #WCUS2019
